What we believe
1. Productive conflict makes stronger families
Sincere relationship alignment is critical to family business success. Yet, difference is necessary. Being in sincere relationship and valuing difference is difficult, but creates enduring value. Agreements made without well-grounded stakeholder alignment will not stand challenges.
2. People do the best they can
People do what makes sense, to them. We aim to understand how behaviors make sense and compassionately reflect back in ways that help clients be more effective.

3. Validation and buy-in create lasting alignment
The process of how a family comes to agreement is almost always more important than the agreement itself.
4. Family self-sufficiency is our ultimate goal
There should be a beginning, middle, and end of an engagement. Future engagements might ensue, but we hold ourselves accountable to evaluating progress against objectives and understanding that the best interventions for a client’s needs may not include FBSA.

5. Nuance and complexity matter
Over the long term, families are best served by at least two Family Business Succession Advisors per engagement. Families contain their own power dynamics, entrenched roles, values and, understandings. Disentangling these considerations works best in collaboration.
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
